Stripe FAQs

STRIPE FAQS

What is Stripe?

Stripe is the new standard in online payments. Stripe offers a complete integrated payment gateway that includes credit card processing and ACH (Electronic Check) solutions for your website and mobile Apps.

What are the benefits?

Stripe simplifies accepting online payments significantly. Stripe accepts all major cards from customers around the world on websites & mobile apps. To further Stripe’s convenience, you can save card details, allowing customers to pay again with one click. Stripe provides a very competitive non-profit transaction rate.

How secure is Stripe?

Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.

What about PCI Compliance? Is there a fee for that? Do I have to answer the whole PCI questioner? Do I have to do anything to stay in compliance?

Stripe is PCI Compliant. Since all transactions go through them directly, our customer's websites do not need to be PCI Compliant. OneEach does maintain PCI Compliance on our own servers as an extra source for the PCI compliance requirements. There are no PCI compliance fees.

What companies work with Stripe?

Stripe has partnered with more than 100,000 businesses in over 100 countries, across a wide variety of industries. Stripe has become a leader in providing a very forward thinking solution for payment processing, working with companies such as Salesforce, Slack, Lyft, Facebook, Twitter and now OneEach Technologies. Are Stripe and Apple Pay one entity?

No. Stripe is the processor behind Apple Pay. If an individual has Apple Pay configured, then they can simply click the Apple Pay button on an iOS mobile, tablet, or desktop device and they won't have to enter any credit card information because it is already stored within their Apple Pay account. Even though they are using the Apple Pay button, the transaction will still go through Stripe. Along with Stripe, donors will also have the option to enter their credit card information the same way they do now. So, the individual will have both options (manual entry of information or using their Apple Pay account) available to use.

Can we run credit cards from our walk-in customers through that system? If so, is there a cost?

Yes, you can process/enter cards manually through the Stripe Dashboard. No additional cost.

Can Stripe sync with my database? Is there an export feature?

You can export transactions from your Stripe Dashboard. The donor information is still captured in CiviCRM (for online contributions), so you now have two options for data export.

How long does it take to have the transaction show up in my bank account? Do I have to manually tell Stripe to send the funds like I do with PayPal?

Funds can be set to automatically transfer to your bank on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
